Watch face with swim data

I would like to have a watch face with swim data but I don't seem to find any.
I come from a Garmin Swim watch which showed the weekly swim distance covered. It doesn't need to be the weekly total, the last swim session distance would be great.
Isn't this possible with the Garmin Forerunner? The watch has this info, can't it be showed on a watch face?

    Nope, some watch face data is watch specific. In this instance swimming data will only be shown on a swimming specific watch.

    Hard to understand these Garmin choices. The data is there, the swim distance is no different than the running distance or other metric.
    Why do they compartimentalize it so much when it is "just" software?! 

    This is like the Swim log... available on some watches but not on others (like the VivoActive) even when no particular sensor is required.

    The set of features per Garmin watch is a matrix with many checks and holes. You would expect a certain watch to have all the features of the previous plus a few ones but it doesn't work like this... you gain somethings, you lose other things... even when you cannot find a good reason for it to be like that (apart from giving some artificial advantage to some watches for business reasons).
