Dead pixel on screen of Forerunner 245

My Forerunner 245 appeared dead pixels on left screen few days ago.

I saw many users here have the same problem.

I contacted the Garmin Thailand and they said if my Forerunner is over 2 years, I need to pay money around 120 USD for a new one and get 3 months of warranty.

But if I don't want to pay money, they suggest me to wait until new model is launched and buy a new one!!!

But this problem is a global issues for this Forerunner.

I've never had problem before until I updated the software.

Garmin should have more responsibility to solve this problem.

  • Hi, I ve just been told I need to pay £164 for a refurbished replacement watch. The pixels are dead and it’s not even 2 years old. Paid nearly £600 for the watch too. My new watch will definitely be Suunto!!

  • Over 4 years old and still going strong Relaxed

  • Did you try this? same problem after 1 year of continuous use. Shipped today for RMA, and it seems there is a dedicated page for that a Garmin's Online Exchange for the Forerunner 245

  • I also just contacted Garmin Support about two areas of dead pixels on my screen and learned about needing to pay $120 for a replacement watch. From other online forums, it seems like they used to replace them at no cost, even when a few years old. This seems like such a well known issue that it is not caused by a used error and instead a manufacturing issue and forced obsolescence. I've really enjoyed my Garmin, but after this issue I may have to consider a different company for my next watch

  • I have exactly the same issue of dead pixels ... TWICE! ... first time was several months of use ...  Forerunner 245 was replaced ... now again exact same place [just in from backlight button] ... after just over 12 months of use. This is clearly a latent design issue ... I now awaiting [again] on Garmin's response.

  • This happened to me twice now .... first time Garmin replaced the unit at no cost ... now the replacement unit has done the same ... I await Garmin's response.

  • Yup there is a dedicated page ... however only a handful of countries represented .... I now patiently await Garmin's response.

  • This happened to me today. Dead pixel, $120 to replace. I bought the watch in 2019 and the rep said they last 5-6 years. As much as I am familiar with Garmin and Garmin Connect, at this point I'm looking at a Coros.
