Watch going crazy

My 245 Music has been great for two years and now suddenly is going crazy.  It started with the GPS, which has been way off for a week or so.  Then the stopwatch kept randomly turning on and off -- it was like the watch was having a hysterical fit.  Then I noticed some screen blankness (half the screen blanks out), which comes and goes when the watch is in clock mode.  Yesterday, the start/stop button stopped responding, which is a disaster, because I can't really give the watch any commands.  I have done a factory reset of the watch, which left it fairly good for a while (except the GPS was still way out, or just not turning on), but now it is fairly bad.  I've let it power down, and I'm going to try a reset again.  This is a radical breakdown for no reason.  Any suggestions?  Garmin, can you help me?

  • My Garmin 245 started to develop similar issues 2 months after the warranty expired (2 years). The upper part of the screen would sometimes get black and the Heart Rate monitor sometimes also stopped working.

I tried everything but I couldn't fix it.

I had to pay 115 euros to Garmin to send me a new one.

Planned obsolescence sucks. I think that we'll get to read more and more about issues like this as we're passed the 2 year period since the launch.

  • Yes, I'm getting the black out on the upper part of the watch face, as well. If there's no fix, I guess it's a dreaded call to customer service.
