Body battery doesn't work after update; how to reset?

A week ago, I connected the 245 to my laptop and ran Garmin Express, allowing a software update for the first time in many months (maybe a year).  Since then, my Body Battery function hasn't worked.  When I reconnect to the laptop, it says I have "two new updates," but when I try to install them it says "update failed" or something to that effect in a red banner across the top of the window.

Reading about this here, I saw suggestions to "reset" the watch.  I've restarted it a couple of times without any change.  How to reset instead?  Will reset undo my installed/modified apps?

Why am I not able to run the software update successfully?

  • I found the "reset" function buried in the middle-button menu.  Surprised at how long it took to run, but watch is back on now.  So bored with recreating all my apps and watchface settings!
