VO2 Max recalculated while not running

Yesterday, I went for a bike ride and my VO2 Max got updated. Is this normal? I didn't start an activity but the auto move iq looked like it kicked in. But not sure why it would have tried to calculate a VO2Max since I wasn't running. Any ideas?

    Garmin also calculates VO2max using GPS bike rides. In fact, on the web version of Garmin Connect, you can specifically set up separate reports for VO2max for running and cycling on your dashboard.
