Spotify sync 0% - Sync failed

Hi there, 

I bought my Forerunner 245 music in January and have been happily listening to music while using it.

A couple of weeks ago, music refused to play and then my content seemed to disappear altogether. When trying to redownload music from Spotify, the status of the sync remains at 0% and then says 'sync failed' repeatedly. These are the solutions I have attempted so far:

1. Syncing next to a wifi router while turning off all other devices connected to the router

2. logging out of spotify, and logging back in to no avail

3. Deleting spotify from my Garmin connect app, then redownloading

4. restarting the watch and trying the above

I am at a bit of a loss and can't seem to find a solution online, nor can I find a way to claim that the device is faulty/claim the warranty.

Does anyone have any ideas?

  • Had the same issue. I had been using Spotify for months just fine on my Fenix 6p and loved it. Then one time I was synching the playlists and because I wanted to get out for a quick run ahead of a rain shower, I interrupted the sync about halfway using the Garmin cancel sync option. Since then... Spotify sync always would get stuck on 0% for 2-3 mins and then report an error. Also none of my Spotify playlist would play still. 

    Tried just about everything you can image (firmware, Spotify app re-install, changed Garmin/wifi/Spotify passwords, tried multiple wifi, rebooting watch/phone, ... pretty much anything short of taking out a hammer) but much to my frustration nothing helped. Always getting stuck on the same error. 

    Then finally good news! As a bit of a last resort, I logged onto my Spotify account via my laptop and I removed the Garmin connect app authorization. Then went back to the watch and did again a Spotify app re-install, logged into my account and... magic: the sync worked again! Not sure whether the last Spotify re-install was really needed because I had done several re-installs before, but what apparently made the difference is the removal of the Garmin app in my Spotify account.

    just go to the account — app and delete the garmin connect iq spotify 

    i didnt reinstall the app on the watch, so i suppose its not necaissary
