Altimeter Garmin Forerunner 245 series

Good morning,

Is there a possibilty to show the number of altimeters on a forerunnern 245? You can see the height at every moment, so it should be possible to see the total altimeters done at every moment? Or do you need an extra accessory?

    You mean total elevation gain? The thing is, the 245 doesn't have a barometric altimeter. It relies on altitude provided by GPS, and that is subject to quite unpredictable inaccuracy, thus making any elevation gain calculation very unreliable in most cases. There is no accessory that could help you, but there are 3rd party IQ data fields that can calculate elevation gain, although my remarks about accuracy still apply.

    And the barometric altimeter is also not very precise. On Vivoactive 3, I had a lot vertical gain of over 50m on a flat area due to calibration issues. The correction using the map on garmin website is more reliable.
