Forerunner 245 - Software Update 7.10 Feedback

Software Update 7.10 is now available for the Forerunner 245 and Forerunner 245 Music. These updates can be downloaded through Garmin Express or Garmin Connect Mobile pending the rollout schedule.

Changes made from 6.20 to 7.10

Added Daily Suggested Workouts (limited) for Run activities. Go to Training > Workouts > Today's Suggestion for options.
- Added the ability to rate the perceived effort and feel of a Run, Bike, or Swim activity. The prompts appear during activity save. Go to [Activity] Settings > Self Evaluation for options.
- Added VO2 Max for Trail Run activities.
- Improved results for daily Body Battery calculations.
- Updated Intensity Minutes determinations to align with guidance from CDC.
- Updated workout audio prompts for hundredths distance precision.
- Improved feedback on stress level readings.
- Improvements to swimming activities.
- Fixed some metronome interference with wrist-based cadence.
- Other minor improvements and bug fixes.
  • Limited to suggesting runs only. 745/945/F6 also offer cycling suggestions.

  • Great that daily suggested workouts made it to the 245. But what means „limited“?

  • In that it only suggests runs and not cycle rides

  • I just noticed that there is a button for "today's suggestion" workout in the bike app. A useless one, of course, it does nothing no matter how many times you press it. I don't want to criticize the decision of not putting suggested workous for cycling, but It feels weird they just left that button there, even though there's no use for it. Seems like a random oversight and makes me feel like there is no real interest on polishing this watch software (it was already present in the beta). Of course I love the new additions, like the VO2 max for trail running, but this little things are a bit "meh", if you know what I mean.

  • So Concept 2 PM5 support is still broken.

Hopefully this does not end up like Firstbeat sleep tracking, the feature that never comes.

  • Still on beta and waiting on the actual update to come to the watch, even without firstbeat, some of the improvements in sleep are very obvious in body battery. even run suggestions can adjust for a poor nights sleep. thats a plus. I'm not going to hold a candle for firstbeat sleep to be honest. 245 is likely at end of cycle and this may be the last big update we see.

  • Good to know that sleep is getting behind the scenes is getting improvements, but my current issue is PM5 support. Software update 6.20 added support for displaying metrics from a Concept 2 PM5, but this never worked for anyone with a 245. Also no word from Garmin on this bug?

  • What do you mean working on in the background? That's not in the changelog.

  • I am not aware of any improvements as well, I was just responding to @Jeet_S experience.

My issue is that Concept 2 support introduced in 6.20 is still broken.

  • It may be coincidental but the sensor stopped working.  Heart rate, body battery, sleep, stress, load.. etc...Clock and weather report is fine ( sarcasm )
