FR245 doesn't show data from HRM-Run strap anymore

I'm using my FR245 with a HRM-Run strap. There were no problems for about 2 years. Now suddenly I don't have any readings from the strap anymore. The HRM-Run is connected to the watch but after a run activity it doesn't show any specific data from the strap. The activity looks like I actually wasn't wearing the strap.

I've already replaced the battery, that wasn't the key. The strap works fine with another Garmin watch. I then tried another strap (also a HRM-Run) with my FR245... same issue: the activity shows no data from the strap.

So imho it must have something to do with the watch. I've already reset it to factory settings. But that didn't solve my problem either. The watch has the latest software etc installed.

Any ideas? Is it possible that somethin with ANT+ is broken?

  • Hello! Have similar problem here. I bought my FR245 in September 2020 and everything was good, but approximately in winter it stopped to show my running dynamics. And after that drops in the heart rate started to appear. I brought my HRM-Run to the service, they tested it and said it was working fine. So I've read the forum I came to conclusion that problem hides in watch... Don't know what to do.

  • Hello Herman, have you attempted either of the following?

    • Hold the top left button for 20 seconds then reboot? (soft reset)
    • Remove the strap then removed the battery for 5 minutes (resets the monitor), then repaired the strap to the watch?
      • To remove:
        • From the time screen hold the middle left button for menu
        • Scroll using the bottom left button until Sensors and Accessories are in the middle
        • Press the top right button
        • Scroll until you see your heart rate monitor listed as a sensor then press the top right button
        • Scroll until you see remove then top right button.
      • To Pair:
        • From the time screen hold the middle left button for menu
        • Scroll using the bottom left button until Sensors and Accessories are in the middle
        • Press the top right button
        • While wearing the strap select add new
    • Hard Reset (This will delete everything off the watch)
      • Hold the middle left button
      • Scroll to system
      • Scroll to Reset
      • Delete Data and Reset Settings
  • Hello! Thanks for reply!
Yes, I've tried all of this. I've delivered my HRM to the official service. They tested it with some other watches and told me that HRM works fine. They removed battery and kinda that was a fix. They were sure that it would work for me as well. But it didn't.
I also tried suggestions from other post to turn off auto lap alarms, vibration and wrist sensor, but heart rate drops still persist...
