When will be the sleep widget available?

The current sleeping tracking in F245 is quite inaccurate, and noticed that the FirstBeat sleeping algorithm has been deployed in some Garmin devices some months ago. Don't know any chance for F245? And any targeted schedule?

From a 3-month F245 user

  • Yes, I don't care much about the widget either, just about the improved algorithm.

Tonight I walked to the restroom at 3am and the watch said I was in light sleep and detected medium movement, that is a bit ridiculous.

  • There is an interesting post on REDDIT:  https://www.reddit.com/r/Garmin/comments/ntlb09/sleep_accuracy_after_the_addition_of_the/h11vowv?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

    I emailed Garmin to ask if the FR245 now has Firstbeat sleep tracking and they said;

Thank you for contacting Garmin. This device will have the Firstbeat algorithm, regarding the sleep data can you please confirm if you are getting the sleep data showing on the Garmin Connect app but not on the device or is it not showing on the app also? If so please respond to this email with the below information for us to best advise.

The exact software version the device is running on?

The make and model of the phone this is paired to?

The exact iOS/Android version this phone is running?

Have you had sleep data on this device before?

  • If this support staff was clued up, they would not have asked (twice) if you getting sleep data on the device, as that feature never came to 245 users?

  • Don’t buy cheap stuff if you want to get something which is promised

  • The 245 pricetag is not cheap by any means.

  • That's a matter of perspective.

  • sure, you are right, everything is relativ. But for most people it´s a heavy price tag , especially considering what you get, or in this case, not get for your money. # Lost trust in Garmin

  • Yes, it is expensive relative to other devices:

    Apple Watch SE $279

    Apple Watch SE LTE $329

    Galaxy Watch 4 $249

    Galaxy Watch 4 4G $299

    Coros Pace 2 $199

    Polar Ignite 2 $229

    Polar Vantage M $279

    Xiaomi Mi Watch Lite £49

    Xiaomi Mi Watch £119

    Amazfit Bip U Pro $69

    Amazfit Stratos 3 $199

    Forerunner 245 $299

    Forerunner 245M $349

  • Did you really take the time to comprise a list of watches that don't share the same quality of build or materials, features available, precision, reliability, durability and longevity and think you proved your point?  If you feel these watches are all on par or you don't have a high value on the differences, then yes, you as an individual may feel the 245 is expensive.  On the other hand, someone may feel the 245 is superior to those other watches and it may have exceeded their expectations making the watch an inexpensive investment. It's an individual decision based on the value the individual has for their watch and not one you can make for them.  That would be like me telling you what's attractive and what's ugly.

  • I deliberately excluded Fitbits from that list. All those watches have good build quality. Oh the last time I checked, my 245M is totally plastic.

And we not talking about looks, we talking about something measurable like price. Even the pay for the name Apple watch is cheaper. The half the price Xiaomi Mi Watch will give you Firstbeat sleep tracking???
