How accurate does it measure pace?

I have a 235 and am really happy with it, but i'm probably going to buy a 245 anytime soon. What i can't seem to find anywhere though is how accurate the pace is measured. What I hate about the 235 is that the pace isnt measured that accurate. For example: it displays the minutes:seconds/km per 5 seconds. So 4:35/km or 5:00, 4:40, 5:05, 4:45,... it rounds the pace up/down to the nearest 0 or 5 (as shown in my examples).

Is this the same for the 245? Or does it show my pace more accurate?

It's the same for all garmin watches.

Woah, really? So there's not a single Garmin watch that would show 4:43, 5:01, 5:14,... as a pace per km?

None that I know of. Current technology does not allow for greater accuracy anyway, so there's no point in showing it with greater precision (and precision here is not to be confused with accuracy). However, when viewing average pace (be it average pace for the entire activity or average lap pace) you will see it with greater precision.

I think the older ones, around 2010 and before did but what’s happened now is the software rounds up or down to the nearest 5 or 0 to smooth it. However if you run a km 5:01 etc it’ll show you exactly.

If you’re doing sprints or intervals etc it’s best just to use a stopwatch.

In a race and you want to hit exactly 5.02 etc per km just use the excellent pace pro which tells you exactly if you’re ahead/behind or on pace.

I have bought for that reason a foot pod (only accelerometer). This should give more exact pace measurements. Today I'll receive it and will check of this is really true.

It is as you say and I assure you, I have been using the foot pod for 2 months and it works great, I have 945 but it has the same SW as your 245, in any case the pace is approximated to 5 seconds equally
