EMF Exposure

I tend to be fairly conscientious about my total EMF exposure. One of the things that I appreciate about my new Forerunner 245 Music is that I can disable the connection between my watch and my smartphone (I intend leave it off most of the time). To that end, I have a few questions that I'm having a hard time finding the answers to:

  1. When disabling the smartphone connection on my watch, is the BT really off, or is it simply in low-power mode?
  2. Is the WiFi on my watch always on, or is it only on when I initiate a sync, or when the device itself initiates a sync (assuming the watch can do that)?
  3. Lastly, if the answer to #2 is that the WiFi is only on when I initiate the sync myself, and assuming that I'm not connected to my smartphone (both my smartphone and my wireless router are turned off while I sleep), will the watch store all data collected while sleeping until the next manually-initiated sync?

Thanks in advance!

  • When you put the watch into Airplane mode, all wireless functions  are turned off, Blutooth, HiFi and Ant+. It will still collect data like heart rate, sleep etc. I keep mine in Airplane mode most of the time.

  • Under quick settings (hold down light button), you will find options to turn on/off bluetooth and wifi. When you try to sync with these options turned off, it will notify you of these being disabled. Best option to reduce emf exposure is to turn on wifi, then press sync, then turn off wifi. Leaving wifi on in the background seems to turn it on periodically (not always on) to sync. But I am not sure what the periodic intervals are.
