Forerunner 245 Music Hardware Defect - white spot stuck / dead pixels on the display in a country with no formal Garmin support

I am located in a country with no formal Garmin support and all Garmin hardware is sold by third party resellers with non-existent warranty & support at a pretty hefty markup.

I bought a 245 Music about a month ago and my watch developed the infamous white spot. I contacted the reseller and after a lot of convincing my only recourse is to pay half and buy another 245 Music again.

I am ready to do this but Garmin quality really irks & annoys me. Why are they selling all these watches with these known hardware defects with no recourse to buyers like me. What if my new watch develops the same problem again because I honestly don't know what I would do differently with my watch :( as I always babied my first 245m.

  • all Garmin hardware is sold by third party resellers with non-existent warranty & support at a pretty hefty markup.

This is kinda on you for buying one with these conditions

  • Nevertheless, should a big company such as Garmin continue to sell a product with a known hardware defect?

  • Most watches don’t have it and they replace all watches with the defect no questions asked. Sometimes even after the warranty has run out.

  • Didney .No they dont. This is a manufacturing defect. All should be replaced no questions asked. That is only the case in the US.

  • No they shouldnt. And they should replace all no questions asked.

  • Garmin International should supply the third party with a replacement to pass on to the customer when the fault is obviously a manufacturing defect.

  • Buying one with these conditions???  What are the options?? A manufacturing fault should be replaced. End of the matter.

  • In india too, they sell these and when I contacted them they proposed a swap for half the price! This is patently ridiculous as I bought the watch in the US and can get it exchanged there for free through their program, but in India I'm left to the mercy of a local repair shop, while Garmin India continues to sell these here.

  • I already got my watch replaced January last year with this screen defect / white blob at 10 o’clock on the screen. Never knew it was a common issue ie manufacturing default until it happened again, this time to my replacement watch. Now it’s over 12 months since they replaced my original watch. Since it’s officially out of warranty do you think will they likely replace it again , given that it seems to be a recognised manufacturing default affecting multiple devices.

  • I have exactly the same issue of dead pixels ... TWICE! ... first time was several months of use ...  Forerunner 245 was replaced ... now again exact same place [just in from backlight button] ... after just over 12 months of use. This is clearly a latent design issue ... I now awaiting [again] on Garmin's response.
