Garmin Forerunner 245 Music Crackling Audio

Hello,

I have the Garmin Forerunner 245 Music and Beats Powerbeats Pro headphones. I've noticed that the audio crackles and sometimes drops the headphones, forcing me to reconnect the headphones in the middle of an activity. Interestingly enough it appears to play just fine or at least better when I am not in an activity or using GPS. I have noticed similar performance with Jlab jbuds air.

I have turned off all the other devices attached to it (under each device settings and set it to off) to insure it's not searching for a device causing interference or whatnot.

Both of these headphones work perfectly with other devices. Is there anything I can do to improve the audio performance of this watch?

Is this Spotify or manual MP3?

Spotify is significantly worse, almost unusable. MP3's are okay but still drop or crackle on occasion.

Spotify I get no snap crackle and pop but mp3 I do on certain songs. I use Airpods though and they only dropped out 5 times in a year. Have you tried spotify with download qaulity on spotify set to high

Interesting idea, so your experience points to the quality of the media being played. I'll give that a shot and update this after the next run. Thanks!

I am afraid is about the Bluetooth Software. The update BT 6.06 has bugs and is giving these dropouts problems with many watches and many earbuds (Jaybird, Jabra, ...), specially when you start an activity.

If you roll back to BT SW 5.04, and change the settings to avoid automatic upgrades of SW in your watch, it may improve the connection a lot (in some cases it solves completely the issue).

There are info available in Fenix 6 series forum.

Thanks for the input. Three questions:

Can i downgrade just the BT SW or does it do the entire package including GPS etc.

Can you link the thread you're referencing please. I can't find it.

Can you link the source file for 5.04 if I can downgrade just that package.

Just the BT. The general SW, GPS, ... remain the same.

In this link you can get the file and some instructions (just copy the uncompressed file inthe "remotesw" directory of your garmin, and unplug the watch)

By the way, I am assuming the BT 5.04 is valid for FR245...

It works in Fenix 6, but I do not know if it is the same for all watches.

Have you checked your current version? Is it 6.06?
