Best pace lower than average pace

Hi,

It seems that there is an issue with my watch. (FR245 SW 5.50)

The average pace is better than the best pace.

The average is correct and the easiest to verify and that means that the pace graph is total rubbish.

PS. GPS tracking in an open Track and Field

What's going on ?

  • Is it just the one activity or all of them ?

  • To be honest I can't be sure. All other runs seem normal.

I'm certain for at least one more similar case, some days before.

Said that, the last days I'm observing something strange that cannot understand. While the instant pace in the watch hovers around 5.20-5.30, I'm feeling that the actual pace is a lot faster around 4.40-4.50, something that the voice at end of the lap says that I'm right.

Long story short, the average pace, if it is for lap or the whole training is correct, isn't anything difficult to calculate (total distance / time ) but the instant pace both in Garmin connect graph or in the watch is totally off.

But then if the GPS working properly for distance (which it does because is standard 400m track ) why it lacks so much in terms of speed ?

Any input would be much appreciated

  • Instant Pace is Not very Accurate. But it Is Indicative. Lap Pace is Another one to Look at.

  • Ok I think that I've got it. Average Pace comes from GPS (Most Accurate without a Footpod)

Best Pace comes from the Accelerometer Sensor (Least Accurate)
