Heart rate lagging? And other heart rate monitor problems

I bought 245 music 2 weeks ago to replace my Fitbit Versa 2, but have noticed there is a huge lag with the heart rate monitor, is this known issue? And is there a fix!

Have been wearing both devices the past couple of days to compare and it’s quite a big difference!

Today I went for run with both the garmin and fitbit, when I stopped the run, my heart rate in the fitbit came back down very quickly, the 245 however even 3 minutes after stopping running was still showing 145? (Fitbit is 62 at this point!!) Have also noticed when just walking the dog, on the watch and if I open the App my heart rate is all over the place, 105, 77, 95 etc, the fitbit the change is 75,76,77, 76 etc

  • Edit! Also the max heart rate is strange i just noticed, today my max heart rate for the run was 178 its telling me, but then the heart rate window is showing it as 161, now apart from the run there is no way i got anywere near 161 this morning.........

  • Yes, the wrist HR has been reading very high for a few months.

  • I coming to the conclusion this device is little more than a toy that you can listen to music with when running, oh it can tell you the time, how many steps you have done and has a GPS, most the rest of it is useless due to the heart rate sensor being sub standard compared to other devices, body battery, VO2 Max, yeah right seeing as they need your heart rate its pretty much a waste of time………….Returned the original unit and they gave me new replacement, today it recorded my heart rate at 214, and even 5 mins after I had stopped my workout and had been sitting down I apparently according to the 245 had a heart rate of over 150!!! The old fitbit had me down as a max of 161 and after 5 mins of stopping im on 53, taking my pulse manually it was more or less spot on……….

Either im very unlucky and have had 2 duds or im doing something wrong? Follow all the instructions, wear it correctly, even tried shaving my wrist hair off, not much there but anything that may help, tried it on both wrists as well, no change!

  • The 245 HR sensor is rubbish, unless you are doing no activity and just sitting there, but otherwise it has all sorts of problems with HR readings, especially with running as it locks onto cadence. (My HR goes down as I run up steep hills for example). It’s actually not fit for purpose and I had to buy an external sensor, a Wahoo optical armband which is perfect. I went through 3 watches before I gave up and thought I’d just wait for a firmware update, hasn’t been fixed in the last 18 months so guessing it’s just crappy hardware.
