Activity storage almost full. Upload to Garmin Connect message

Few months ago i got the "Activity storage almost full. Upload to Garmin Connect" message on my 245.  So i connected the watch to my laptop, and deleted some Fit files and all was good.

Last night i got the message again so now i have deleted all the Fit files and we will see how we go.

I thought the watch was supposed to automatically delete old activites and replace with new ones as the watch memory gets full?

I always connect to garmi connect after every run too.

  • I thought this too but I normally just delete a load of fit files myself otherwise I find my FR245 gets a bit sluggish going through menus etc

I have a vivo active garmin watch and I am also getting the same response on my watch the last two weeks. I have deleted many things and thought I fixed the problem but it still persists. Very frustrating!! Anyone have any ideas?

  • We have this issue resolved for the Forerunner 245 Music I Am Getting a Memory Full Message on My Forerunner 245 or 245 Music. That doesn't mean that it's the same thing that you are seeing on your Vivoactive. Because they have a few models of Vivoactive at this point, which model specifically do you have and I can look into it regarding your situation a little further.

  • Garmin's answer was somewhat helpful BUT in my case there was another thing going on that you might want to know about (which I finally figured out after unsuccessfully trying their solution). My watch storage was so full I couldn't even get through a 5 mile run without it running out of memory! I connected my FR245 to my laptop (a mac, but I assume this will work on a pc) and opened up the watch file directory.  I then changed my viewing so that I could see the hidden folders.  Lo and behold there was a large folder containing all my "deleted" activities.  I "emptied the trash" on this (i.e. deleted permanently) and got back about 27 Mb of space! Then I could install the newest operating system. Hope this helps anyone else who is struggling with this!

  • I have a Mac PC. How do I go about???

  • I have a Mac too. Where do I find the watch file directory?

  • If you have a music model a Mac won't work to resolve this issue. You would need a Windows computer to perform the steps per the article. A software update has been pushed since then, I would be curious to know what software your watch is currently running.

If you have a non music version, you can plug the watch into the mac,

    Open Finder

Select Go in the menu bar at the top of the screen

    Select Computer

    Open the Garmin Folder

Locate the TempFIT folder and right-click on it

    Select Delete

Disconnect the watch from the computer

Reconnect to the computer and use Garmin Express to install the latest software if there is one available.

  • As I mentioned, I have a Mac. This is a computer made by a company called Apple. You might have heard from it. If not, Google it. They have pretty awesome products and many customers. You might want to consider offering solutions to those clients as well...............................

  • How Windows/Android users feel when Apple never supports any system besides iOS...

  • And the relevance of your comment is...???
