Pool Swim distance not recorded

Hello,

I’ve been using the forerunner 245m for about 4-6 sessions so far.

None of the sessions have been accurate and recently it has gotten worse. The time has started but do distance was recorded until about 500m.

Anyone has such issues or any solutions to fix this?

  • No fix but I too use the forerunner 245.  Have done 3 pool sessions and the watch consistently adds extra distance, I've swum 2000m and the watch registers 2500.  (Luckily for me I get to leave that extra distance because I do kickboard that doesn't get registered as distance...still annoying though).

  • Did you ever figure this out?  I have a Forerunner 245 that was perfectly recording all of my pool swimming lengths and now it shows 0 after every session.  I am swimming 72 lengths of freestyle at speed with flip turns.  Any ideas or suggestions to share?

  • Hi, what worked for me was a consistent hard kick off the wall and I made sure my strokes went through proper range of motion. That simple steps worked for me. Not sure about your situation :( It can be a little frustrating at times I know

  • Thanks, but yeah, I am doing all of that as already.  :-)  I have been consistently been swimming 1800 yards in around 27 minutes and the watch measured it perfectly every time.  ...and then one day the total was 0 and has been every time since then!  Running and cycling sessions still record perfectly, but not swimming.  I am going to try rebooting the watch by holding down the power button to see if that works for my next swim on Tuesday morning.  :-)

  • You must not change you style during the length of the pool. For instance, if you are swimming freestyle, but 3 meters from the wall change to Breaststroke, the watch will count 2 pool lengths.

After FW 7.20 every time you charge it, you must turn off and turn on the watch, to activate the swim sensor. If you don’t do this, the distance will always be 0 meters

  • this is absolutely right. turning it off and on again solved the 0 meter distance problem. (tried this in the living room simulating a swim and a push, works perfectly).
