GPS accuracy: speed in the tunnels 0

When I do speed skating and there are tunnels on the track, there are always breaks on the speed graph where speed is shown as 0 and absurde elevation jumps, even with the correction on.

Is there a way to fix this to show just some average in those places? How can I get garmin to look at this issue?

  • Hi KBF,

I recorded an activity on a bike, and on a run on the same stretch of trail that includes a very short tunnel. It seems to be the issue is that for indoor bike if you want to record speed/distance you have to record using a speed sensor on the bike. However if you are running indoors the watch uses the built in accelometer to record distance. What it appears to be doing is losing GPS in the tunnels and then treating it the way the watch would treat a cycling activity as opposed to a running activity. What activity profile are you using to record the speed skating activity? If you direct message me the serial number of your watch, I would be happy to start pursuing this further for you.

  • HI, I am using Skating App Professional. It seems it relies on GPS data only as if I export the track to other apps like Strava or Relive I get absurd speeds for the same sections (150km/h or so). Seems connect is catching such sections and removing them instead of calculating some average between the entry and exit points.

Sent you a friend request with an Id of the watch, sending a DM is somehow not working for me - using FF I am unable to select the recipient in the popup with search results.
