Distance and elevation differences between devices

Just been on a run with sister both using forerunners, mine a 645M set on "trail run" and hers a 945 set on "run". Mine on GPS only and hers on GPS+GLONNAS.

Mine recorded 150m longer over 11.5k so not too far out given the different systems. Should I be going GPS+GLONNAS anyway?

More of a concern we both logged quite different elevation gains About 50m difference mine at 322 and hers at 371m. Does anybody have any idea what might cause this and what can be done to improve?

Many thanks

  • This does tend to be expected unfortunately.  Quite a bit of difference going on between the 645M and 945.  The GPS difference probably has zero to do with the elevation.  The 945 will likely be doing continuous elevation correction based on DEM maps where as the 645 wouldn't be.

Aside from that, probably better to post something like this in the 945 or 645M forums rather than the 245.  The 245 would likely be completely different as it doesn't have a barometric pressure sensor, so gets it's elevation strictly from GPS.

  • Thank you for the info.

Thought I posted in a general running/multistory, sorry.
