WIFI / Spotify / Bluetooth to phone

Hi - I just received a 245M as a gift but it is so far hands down the most frustrating tech experience I've had since about 1987.  The bugginess is extraordinary in 2020.  I haven't bought a non-apply device for a few years but the user experience is frankly light years apart.

Anyhow, before I just take this device back I thought I would try here for suggestions.

My issues seem to be:

(1) If I connect to Wifi, 90% of the time it then drops my bluetooth connection to the phone. Interesting, but all the more frustrating, that 10% of the time it works......

(2) On the rare occasion I do get connected to Wifi and don't lose the phone connection, when I go to add playlists from Spotify it then drops the Wifi connection and/or the Sync never progresses past 0.

In summary, a device that is entirely reliant on wifi for its functionality doesn't have a working wifi solution. I've tried 4 different kinds of wifi routers (including a mobile hotspot) with security from nil to highly secure grade. All have the same response.

I'm at my wits end and intended to take it back and get an apple. Whilst the apple doesn't have the style or fitness functions I was after I am confident it will do what it is advertised to do.....

Thanks in advance for any suggestions or help.

You don't need to use the wifi for anything else but syncing music. Rest can do be done over bluetooth.

I am in the same situation, however I purchased my Forerunner 245M back in December. I think I've managed to sync a Spotify playlist 3-4 times in 9 months? Then after 30 days or something, if the Spotify playlist hasn't been verified, it won't let you play and I'm back to square 1. I have tried every single recommendation on every forum I can find. Have factory reset, rebooted router, phone. Tried multiple wi-fi connections. Always just sits at "Syncing Spotify 0% Complete". If you find a fix, please please let me know Disappointed

alightbreeze - I'm afraid my fix was just to return a device that didn't meet my needs. I've had good garmins in the past so won't write the brand off together - perhaps they'll sort it out in the next generation.

didney - given the only reason to buy this particular model is the music function and that's the bit reliant on wifi, it defeats the purpose of the whole model for me!

4000848 - Unfortunately I have just returned mine now also. Similar experience - have had plenty of good Garmin products in the past (including a still functional forerunner 235). Will just have to run without music until I research (thoroughly) what other brands offer as an alternative
