How widespread is the pixels/white dot issue?

Hi guys,

Im currently trying to decide between a 245 or a Instinct, maybe solar. I really like both watches but the screen problem in 245's bugs me a lot. I know that when researching you get more feedback from unlucky buyers than from lucky ones...but aftear reading that quite a bunch of people got a replacement unit that also developed the same problem, im starting to think that its not just a few lemons...it must be a design problem affecting a lot of watches (not only 245's).

So...any way or info to get some peace of mind before buying one? Dont want to tempt my bad luck.

Not unless Garmin were to release the total amount of 245's sold, the amount of confirmed cases of the white spot issue giving you a percentile of defective units.  I don't believe this would ever happen.

  • Yeah that would be ideal, but im not counting on it.

245 is a problematic device. So better avoid it. Definitely they should have refunded or replaced with your choice with payable amount difference. If 2nd unit of F245 also gets white dot then what. Actually whoever bought F245 are in loss.

  • Never had any issues with my 245. It's a great watch.

Happy that yours is working good.

It's really a great watch. But I can't deny that I had issues. Mine is Taiwan Made.

I spoke to customer care, they said the problem was with one LOT.

But still why not to think of VIVOACTIVE 4.

It's  features are good. Same price. It can be considered until someone says it's problematic.

My replaced Forerunner is on my wrist. Will se how it goes. In India luckily the warranty was for 2yrs.

  • My daughter and I both have one. No issues with either one. The only thing we've added is the Strava Relative Effort data field. I bought them both not long after they came out.

  • I was loving my FR245m, today after 5 months of steady running use the dreaded dead pixels occurred. Did not know about the problem until I googled and saw how widespread it was.  Garmin are replacing the watch, but now I'm worried about the replacement causing problems outside of warranty.
