Updating GPS ephemeris data on Linux?

I'm looking for a better way to use my Forerunner 245 with Linux. I can easily download and postprocess the activitiy files. What I'm missing is a way to update the GPS ephemeris data from Linux. I know that the data needs to go to GARMIN/REMOTESW/CPE.BIN, but where do I get the current data from? The URL given in https://www.kluenter.de/2014/03/23/garmin-ephemeris-files-and-linux.html does no longer work. (I'm aware of approaches involving Wine or other virtualization software, but I'm looking for a more direct approach.)

  • You should be getting updates by way of your phone and Garmin Connect Mobile.  If not, how about running Garmin Express?

If I'm not mistaken, there is no Garmin Express for Linux. And I'm not really keen on syncing my watch with my phone, which requires linking it with my Garmin account and uploading all my activities to the cloud (even if not public).

For older models, it was possible to download EPO.BIN directly and to put it on the watch. However, it seems that almost nothing is known about CPE.BIN and possible download URLs.
