Battery Problems

Thought I would give my 2 cents here.

Ever since the 5.00 software update, by battery life has decreased immensely... where I had to charge my watch every 6 to 7 day, with notifications, Bluetooth and 2 to 3 activities a day, plus I wear my watch everyday the whole day. Now I have to charge it every day with or without activities, plus I have removed the Bluetooth paring.

I have never had a problem with my battery! Why is it depleting so fast now?

  • Mine is the same. Before the update I would get at least 7 days from a charge. Now it’s a few days at most. This morning I charge my watch, took it off the charger at about 10am, it is now 3pm and I have lost 18% charge with no activity done and minimal notifications

  • I had the same issue a few days after updating to 5.00

What worked for me was to go in setting -> wrist heart rate -> Broadcast Heart Rate:
my setting was originally set to 'OFF'.
I turned it 'ON', went back to the parent menu, then back to Broadcast Heart Rate:
    turned it back to 'OFF'

Since then my Forerunner 245 Music no longer drains the battery so fast.

I vaguely recall something about fixing the HR broadcast in the updates, and thought that maybe the update made the setting turn to 'ON' by default (despite the menu saying 'OFF'), and causing the watch to broadcast the HR day and night... thereby burning through the battery quickly.
