Elevation gain and inaccurate distance

I just bought a Forerunner 245 with music recently but it doesn't show elevation gain at all. Moreover, the distance ran is off by 1 km when tracked against a mobile app such as Runkeeper. Any solutions?

The FR245 does not have a barometric altimeter, hence no elevation gain.
