How to do cadence drills

Hi, I’m 10 weeks into the Garmin 10km training program with Amy and it’s getting me to do cadence drills. They were fine to begin with because I didn’t go very far but now the distance is picking up I think I might be doing them wrong. To get to the cadence I’m doing like 4 minute kilometres to achieve 162-170 which isn’t really sustainable for me at the moment. Am I doing it wrong? Should I be trying to step faster while still running at the same speed?
