Volume controls on 245M don’t work

Hi, I’ve got a Garmin Forerunner 245 Music and I tried to use my bluetooth earphones Xiaomi Airdots. They pair without a problem, but the volume is set to max and I cannot change it: the volume controls on the 245 do visually work but the volume is not changed. As the Airdots don’t have volume controls, I’m stuck with maximum volume. How can I solve this problem, Garmin?

I’m using FW 4.40 and bluetooth FW 5.04

Use a different pair of headphones.

There is another thread on the same issue. Issue reported after FW 3.1. No signs of a solution from Garmin.

Hello. I'm thinking about buying Xiaomi Earphones 2 Basic and I wonder if problem with volume control still persists on newer versions of Forerunner 245M firmware? Has it been fixed already?

Hello, per this article on our site, while you can use just about any headphone that is Bluetooth compliant, some features may or may not work. Bluetooth® Headphone Compatibility for Garmin Watches That Feature Music

I have the same issue
I switched from the 1st model of airdots (which worked fine) to the 2nd, and now the watch can't see any of the device's metadata. Annoyingly xiaomi wont let you re-pair devices without a full reset, so you cant just pair to another device and set the volume lower

I Guess I can't be too mad that my bargain basement headphones aren't cross compatible with everything but still seems like a problem on Garmin's end, given that they work fine on my phone.

If Garmin won't actually fix the problem, maybe a compromise would be publishing a list of devices which definitely are supported? or Bluetooth versions which are supported.
