Forerunner 245 Screen White Spot

This is not comforting...mine developed it after 10 months--so frustrating. My Vivoactiv 3 would not hold a charge so I upgraded to the 245 for my marathon last fall. Last night after charging the device this white spot appeared. After spending hundreds of dollars on Garmin devices over the years, this is totally unacceptable. I sent in a complaint to support, but I'm reading that very few concerns are being addressed. 

I purchased the 245 at REI in NYC and after a few months the white spot appeared, I called REI who told me the one yr Garmin warranty is only for 3 months if purchased at REI. I then notified the agent here who related that the 'white spot' is a known issue and to contact Garmin. They agreed to replace it but as I live in Jerusalem, Israel and there a a few dealers here in the country, can I replace it here? The answer is no, knowing the status of the mails here and esp in the US this means it could take weeks to and fro and when such an expensive watch goes thru customs anything over 70 dollars is subject to a heavy customs tax as its in the category of jewelry, so please let me make the exchange here, their answer was no so I'm stuck with a defective watch until the next time I fly to the US which may be yrs due to the virus.. Lastly, whereas this is a well known defect Garmin should have recalled all 245 watches when it became a known problem, they didn't and the watch continues to be sold as if everything is ok. Poor customer relations.
