VO2max and Training Effect

6km run today produced Training Effect of 4.7 and 3.9, aerobic and anaerobic respectively, stating, “Highly Impacting VO2 Max” and my Training status simultaneously moved to, “Unproductive” and VO2 Max went down one point. 
What is happening here?

  • Sounds like you’ve given your body a “shock”. I get this too, especially if I run on a hot and/or very humid day. 
    You’ve probably done an unusually intensive run. On your next run, providing that you’re rested you should see more positive results but don’t be surprised if it’s unproductive again. Could take a while for you to absorb the workout. 
    I know it’s frustrating to see unproductive, it can happen to me for my first three runs in hot weather then things improve. Best to look at the changes over several days/weeks.
