Heart rate sensor issues (too high)

Dear All,

My Forerunner 245 is experiencing some heart rate sensor issues lately. The readings are much too high. When I take a walk my heart rate normally doesn't pass 100bpm but lately, the watch is showing values above 140bpm even up to 164bpm. Also when I am just sitting on the couch, the heart rate as shown on the watch often surpasses 110bpm. I don't have a second device to check but simply checking my pulse in the neck or wrist indeed confirms that the values are completely wrong. It seems that these incorrect readings also impact the stress level and body energy.

I have followed all advices in the Garmin manuals (cleaning wrist and watch, tightness of strap, position, etc.).
Does anybody have a similar problem? Or does anybody have suggestions on how to improve this situation? (@Garmin)? Could it be a software issue?

Thank you in advance! Best regards,

Dominic

  • Same here.
Sometimes start with +≈20bpm high and goes to normal after 10-30 min. Or jumps upp +≈20 bpm suddenly. Specially at low hr training, zone 2, very common issue for me. With or without strap, no difference. Really annoying because it screws my stats. :)

  • I’ve only had my Forerunner 55 a few months, but I nearly jumped out of my skin when an alarm went off this morning that my heart rate was ‘abnormally high!’ Bizarrely, when I went to the Garmin Support page, it told me that the Forerunner 55 doesn’t have this feature(!) Well, I didn’t imagine that alarm… but in a weird way I’m slightly reassured that other people are viewing it as some sort of software fault.
