Saved Location and Course Marker

I have searched on manual, forum, and google but I cant find the solution, So I will ask here:

  1. Is it possible to export saved location on FR245 to GPX point, or at least to garmin connect? I'd like to see my saved location on my Phone and PC. I cant find a way to export my saved location on watch to Garmin Connect.
  2. Why course marker I have built on garmin connect when drawing routes for course disappear when it synced to FR 245? It only show the route I made, but course marker I made is disappear on watch. Is this because FR245 does not support displaying course marker on screen?
  • For #2 have same behavior on FR645 - no course markers added in Connect show up after syncing with watch.

  • I have read somewhere (I forgot where), FR245 breadcrumb navigation (and also FR645 because its same) not supporting course markers, it only supported on high end watch with real maps like FR945 or F6Pro. Its not mentioned in official specification, even Dcrainmaker failed to mentioned it on his super detailed review.

For #1, I have found solution, just connect the watch to PC, copy Lctns.FIT to PC, convert FIT to KML, and open KML on google earth.

  • So, it turns out, after interacting with tech support, that the coursepoints in GC *are* part of the course on the watch.  You just can't see them until you run the course.  There are several issues with them, but they are actually there.  Just tried it this evening.

For my needs, using Locations would be just way too clunky.  I use coursepoints to clarify trails I need to take during trail running.  For example, at a hairy 6 trail juncture, I will create a coursepoint named "CP.4" which means "take the 4th trail counting from my left-hand side".  The implicit turn-by-turn directions are not accurate enough to navigate a 6 trail juncture!

There really is no easy way to use Saved Locations for this use-case.  Found the Sendpoints app but it would take probably an hour of setup for an hour trail run!
