New Version 245 / 645 ?

Hello, everybody.

I was wondering if any of you have heard any news about a new Forerunner model? I'm missing an update from either the 645 > 655 or the 245 > 246?
Maps would be a nice choice.

I had read that the 945 will probably get an update to the 955.

Thank you very much!

Bernd

  • An new version to both the Forerunner 645 and 735XT is generally expected within 2020, as both watches (esp. the 735XT) haven't received a refresh in quite a while. This is apparent, since the 245 now has a few features (PulseOX) that the 645 does not have. However, corona probably killed a few timelines here as well, so your bet is as good as any whether we will see these watches in 2020.

Both the 245 and the 945 are now about one year old, both released in Apr 2019. I do not believe that a new version is due in 2020. Probably Garmin will update the Fenix 6 (released Aug 2018) before. Once they introduce new features to their premium product, they can trickle them down to the new version of the 945 (955?).

  • That would be nice, if successor of the 645 would appear. I tried the Fenix 6 times. Unfortunately this one was too big. I sold it again and would like to come back to a Forerunner because of the many features. What I liked very much was the map material. I hope one day this will find its way to a Forerunner version.

  • Forerunner 945 supports mapping, no need to wait. And has a great battery life.

  • Yes, but still too expensive if it is to be replaced this year.
