Unable to start a virtual run activity

I have a 245m and have been able to use the virtual run feature to connect my watch with the Tacx app to capture heart rate data for my virtual cycle.
The issue I have is that my watch does not allow me to 'start' the activity, so eventually it times out and the connection is lost.

Starting the activity in the Tacx app doesn't start the activity on my watch either.

Is there any reason why I cannot start a virtual run activity or is this a bug?
Thanks

  • I have exactly the same issue.  I guess we'll have to wait for a "Virtual Cycle" app, as it seems that Virtual Run waits for the connection from Zwift to be able to start.

  • I have exactly the same issue using Zwift on either my Samsung Galaxy S8 or my Google Pixel Slate. It pairs fine in Zwift, it shows up as paired above the 0:00, but it still says ready to pair and I cannot start the activity.

It seems without starting the activity the HR measurement is a lot less accurate. Sometimes it stays in the 60-80 range the whole activity when I know it's much closer to 160. Occasionally it will jump up to the correct rate and stay there.

Can anyone from Garmon comment on this? I've seen it reported in multiple threads. Is it a known issue? Is there a fix coming? Or will we just be able to broadcast BLE heartrate during all activities the same way we can broadcast ANT?

    Thanks!

Same here - 245M, but can’t actually start the virtual run activity in my watch. Would love to do this to avoid timeouts / lost connections!
