Can't erase playlists in FR 245M

Hi.  I can't delete my playlists on my watch and they don't appear as loaded in Express.  I'm using macOS Catalina.  Have you experienced this issue?  Is there an option where I can just erase them and load my watch as a storage drive?

  • Have the same problems but be ignored from garmin till now...... syncing with itunes, i have ghost playlists and tracks on it and cant delete.... also dont see the stuff i got on the watch in garmin express..... theres a programm for mac called Android File Transfer, maybe it helps you to see the watch as a volume to make it a bit better maybe...

  • The sync model between watch and computer is fundamentally brain-dead design-flawed half-assed.  Yet, it can be made to work...  If I delete all music from the MTP mode and also from the garmin express, and re-load new from scratch, it will by-and-by stop showing the playlists.  Sometimes playlists just disappear.  Sometimes failing on a transfer makes it forget what it already has.  You can certainly wipe everything in GE and then mount as MTP and clear the music folder and the watch will stop showing them.  GE apparently can't "see" into the watch's music database in a sane way.  Maybe GE is just using MTP (you can drop a playlist in MTP and it will detect it).  AFT is a Mac MTP client, definitely it will give you a _different_ view of what is going on and another tool... but it won't fix the fundamental problems.  I would just _ignore_ zombie playlists, or disappearing playlists... but whenever it gets "confused" I wipe it out (both with GE and MTP) and re-load playlists and music that I care about.  One thing you'll find is that it has poor error handling - if it runs out of memory (surmise) it will "brain-fart-corrupt" itself.  Only an issue usually over about 400 songs but I think there are playlist limits also.  Again... you can make it work... you can make it get rid of the playlists... but you can't make it sane, for one thing, internally it does NOT map the .mp3 files by file-name the way you load them, it re-maps based on tag information into a database.  Which I think has no external API... TMI, but, get the Android File Transfer, between that and Garmin Express it is more manageable than GE alone.

  • I'll try it in the next few days! Thanks for the tip.

Same problem here, but i just use Windows in combination with Garmin Express and Windows Media Player. Now i got double playlists on my watch because Windows Media Player uses an capital letter and Garmin Express uses a small letter for the playlist names. Now i got double playlists where only one actually works ang has the music in it. Anyone has an idea how i can delete the empty playlists?

Please Garmin, do something about it!
