Upgrading to beta version

(X- posted on 4.06 thred but thinking it might be a more general issue...)

I'm trying to upgrade to version 6.06 per the instruction. When I copy the beta file to my watch (currently on v3.7) and then disconnect it the update doesn't happen. When I subsequently reconnect the watch the file GPDATE.GCCD has disappeared from the \GARMIN folder. What am I doing wrong?

I think that the 4.06 beta can only be installed on 4.00 firmware. So you probably need to first update to 4.00 and then install the 4.06 beta.

You also make sure that you are using the correct files for the corresponding variant of 245, music or non-music.

Thanks. When I connect to Garmin EXpress and check for updates it says that it is up to date on 3.7. No sign of 4.0. What determines the roll-out for the new versions?

Not really sure, but from what I have read on this forum maybe your device is APAC (Asia Pacific) which usually is getting not that frequent firmware upgrades as the ROW (Rest of World) devices.

Or check if you have Auto Update -> ON in System -> Software Update on your watch:

Thanks Auto update is on. Not sure that I have the Asia Pac version, it was bought full-price on Amazon in the US.

Happily Amazon recognised that I should have been sent the US / International version so have agreed to refund and replace.

I chatted with Garmin support and we figured out that I had an APAC watch too. They're exchanging it for me.
