Forerunner 245 recording all activities as runs on Strava

As per title, every activity i record on garmin, it adds them as runs on strava, resulting in me having to delete them or edit on the strava app manually. I've seen that my girlfriend vivoactive 4s records them correctly, why can't devs actually do this simple thing for other devices too?

  • It must be something with the firmware that they need to update.

A problem with firmware of your 245?

  • Of every 245 i suppose? I don't know if other people 245 upload activities correctly on strava, i suppose not because i have the 4.0fw and i suppose all 245 with the same fw has the same problem, what i mean is considering they've implemented it right on vivoactive 4, they should update the firmware and adding this functionality to 245 too. I don't understand if yours do it right or not either.

  • I don't have a 245. I have a 920XT. Also, I'm not uploading straight to Strava. I'm uploading to Garmin, then it syncs to Strava. I'm not seeing any noise on the Garmin 245 forum regarding this issue. At least I couldn't find anything.

  • I don't think you're understanding what i mean, but it's ok. Let's see if other people has the same problem.

  • You're uploading a strength training activity to Garmin Connect, then syncing to Strava. However, Strava is recording it as a run. You're manually having to edit each "run" to reclassify the activity on Strava. Do I have that right? I guess according to that Strava thread, I'm lucky that it works for me. Wink I also saw that same thread when I was hunting down the issue. Also saw something on reddit about it, but little if anything here (until now).

If you really want to get it fixed, you probably should report it to Garmin support.

  • They'll probably say i need to reset things on my watch and/or send it to the repair center. I posted it here hoping someone working at garmin could see it. Let's hope so.

Hi, did you find a solution to this? Anytime I complete a strength session on my Garmin watch, it uploads it to Strava as a Running session.

  • yes i think i do, you have to go to your strava profile on the desktop site, settings and from there data authorization (or something like that, i i have the italian language), then you press the allow access button.
