No sound

Hi

On my 2nd 245 music after the first one had a battery fault.

This one appears to have a Bluetooth issue....

Connection dropping continuously. It took me hours to instal and setup amazon music on the watch, i lost count the number of times I reset my settings on the watch and phone.

Anyway, I now have music downloaded to the watch, on the rare occasion I can actually get the headphones to pair it either has no sound or i'll have sound for about 3 seconds before it cuts off.

The watch seems to think the headphones are connected because it's still playing the track, the volume buttons on the watch don't do anything.

Definitely not an issue with the headphones.

Anyone had similar problems id be keen to hear.

This was not an issue on my first watch and it just worked

I had issues pairing headphones with the watch, computer, phone, etc. until I got a dedicated set of earbuds just for the watch that I wear running. This seemed to solve a lot of my issues. So I have the nice headphones paired with the computer and a pair of decent earbuds paired to the Garmin FR 245.

Here are the earbuds I'm using...

Not to doubt you, but only to think about where all you can troubleshoot... Are you sure the issue isn't the headphones; what have you tried so far?

    Hi, thanks for the reply.

The reason I don't think it's the headphones is because they work with all my other tech and this was NOT a problem with my original FR245M which I had to send back due to a battery fault.

The reason I think it's a watch (and more specifically a Bluetooth) issue because the paring between the watch and my phone is incredibly temperamental.

The paring drops throughout the day and almost immediately after opening the connect and connect iq apps, which is usually remediated by turning the watch off and back on again or in some cases I needed to reset the watch settings (and in one case reset and clear the watch completely) - I've had the watch less than a week

This has meant installing anything to the watch including Spotify and amazon (I have installed both as part of my troubleshooting) took hours with multiple failed attempts.

I had none of these issues with my first FR245M

    Things I've tried :

I've installed both Spotify and amazon music multiple times - both have no sound

Reset the watch settings including a complete reset

Deleted and reinstalled the apps on my phone

The sound problem was not an issue with my other watch, and neither was the paring problem.

It shouldn't be the case I need to turn the watch off and on again multiple times a day just for it to work.

I  am having the exact same problems that you described and, like you, do not think it is a problem with my headphones (which are high quality Bose) and work with any number of other devices.  I've gone to the extent of unpairing the headphones with all other devices, turning the other devices off, etc. so as not to have other devices compete with the Garmin; but, none of that works.  Only re-starting the Garmin over and over works, but it is a short-lived solution.

This morning I work to find the Garmin "restarting" endlessly.  It is frozen in this mode, despite recent recharging and regardless of whether I try to charge it more.

I'm pretty sure that I will be taking advantage of that warranty for a refund.  This is really disappointing.

Hi, sorry to hear your problems too. Do you have the same paring issues when your trying to sync with the garmin iq and connect apps?

What version of the software are you on for your 245? I'm still on 3.7 and it seems like Garmin is not letting me update to the latest, which should be 4.0

  • Must be asia version. Always atleast 2 updates behind

Hi. I'm on 4.0. I can't remember if the volume issue was there for 3.7 but the intermittent paring and the constant need to reset the watch was.

I wound up taking it back and exchanging it for another 245 Music.   The new one works very well.  I was told at the store in relation to their whole line of Garmins that "about 95% work really well, but the other 5% have significant problems."   You and I seem to have been part of that unlucky 5%.  With the new one, it was like night and day.   It synced with the headphones readily and played music without problem.
