Forerunner 245 prediction algorithm completely inacurate!

The Garmin forerunner 245 algorithm is completely inaccurate as it predicted that I will run Valencia Marathon (1/12/2019) in ~2.50.
Finally, I ran the marathon in 2.37.20.
A week later still predicts that I will the marathon in 2.52.45...

  • Try and set your Max HR 5 beats higher. It sounds your VO2 score might not have gone up. I find after say a 10K race or tempo workout my score will go up by one or two and that has a big impact on race times. (Great time btw, some unbelievable times by the Elites. Becoming the Berlin or Dubai of Southern Europe! It’s a fantastic race)

  • Thank you for your answer. The strange think is that a week prior the race i ran a 5k in 16.26 but again nothing happened in the prediction time or VO2 max..

  • I guess that was around PR time? Definitely sounds the HR max is a little low. Bump it up a little and you should see your VO2 go up by a point or two and the times will be more accurate.
