Hello, I'm looking to buy a sportswatch which tracks: a) running; b) swimming; c) spin class; and d) connects to spotify. It looks like the Forerunner 245 Music does this. Is this correct and would any owners recommend it? Many thanks

Should I buy the Forerunner 245 Music?

  • The FR245 should be able to do all that for you. Please note, though, that for indoor cycling (like in a spinnig class) that watch won't show you anything except time and heart rate, unless the bike transmits speed and/or cadence data over ANT+ or BLE.

    My personal advice:

Before you make your final decision please make sure you understand how all the essential functions work, especially if you never dealt with a Garmin before. Look through the manual, read some reviews, watch some clips on youtube, look through this forum to see what issues people are having. Ideally, buy from a seller who accepts unconditional returns.

Yes what tmk2 says it’s true, Also be aware that for the time being the 245 and 945 are both affected by a major bug that has not been fixed by Garmin. If you run on a Treadmill once in a while there, or most of the time like me, there is no way to save the calibration. Actually you can save it, and the watch pretends it saved it, but in reality it doesn’t.  That means the watch will always report incorrect distance, pace, speed, etc. and this with a huge difference. BUT that’s good because you can beat world records LOL. The 245 is not an affordable watch and as user who spent so much money, I expect it to do what it’s supposed to do.

BTW if want an accurate Sleep stages report, don’t count on this. It’s not accurate at all. It’s just an added feature, because the competition like Fitbit have it.
