Watch face reverts back to default when I exit the Widget Loop with the Down button

Hello

I have an issue with my Forerunner 245 that I would like assistance with please.

I have installed & configured several additional watch faces, which work fine until exiting the Widget Loop.

If I exit the Widget Loop using the UP button, then my selected watch face is displayed as expected.

However, if I exit the Widget Loop using the DOWN button, or let the Widget Loop time-out and return to the watch face, then my selected watch face is NOT displayed, instead the default watch face is displayed.

The only way I can get my selected watch face to display again is by entering the Widget Loop and then existing the Widget Loop using the UP button, or the BACK button (but NOT the Down button).

NOTE: The issue is the same for any custom watch face selected (e.g. Elegance, Crystal etc). It also persists regardless of what Widgets I have installed.

I have made a short video showing exactly what happens, please see the link below.

Thank you, I am very grateful for your help

  • I just tried 5 different watchfaces and didn't see this.

first, check in garmin\apps\logs for ciq_log.yml (or.bak)  You can read it and see if it mentions either watch face (if a WF crashes, you'll see a native one and this is were crashes are recorded.).

Then, maybe try uninstalling both and reset (long press of the light button until it turns off) and install just one, and see if the problem exists.  If not, repeat but install the second one.

Based on the ciq_log file, and what happens one-at-a-time, contact the developer(s).  There's a link to do that in the app store.

    Thanks for the info

There is 1 file in garmin/apps/log, please see below, with no mention of any watch faces, only a crashed app from a few days ago.

    CIQ_LOG.BAK

    Error: Invalid Value
    Details: 'Failed invoking <symbol>'

The issue happens with any & all watch faces I try, so I am reluctant to contact an individual watch face developer just yet.

When I get a chance in the next few days, I will uninstall all watch faces & apps, and install 1 at a time to try and isolate the problem.

Thank you, I am very grateful for your help

  • Hello,

I have the same issue with my FR 245 non music.

When I am on a widget, I can also push the back button to go back to my custom watch face but if I cycle the widgets using the down button, I get the default watch face.

The latest Firmware update appears to have solved this issue for me.

OLD Firmware Version 3.0.0.0 (with issue)

NEW Firmware Version 3.10.0.0 (no issue)

Thank you very much, I am very grateful for your help
