245 screen and gps issues

So when I initially received my 245 (non music). I was pretty happy with the watch. Didn’t expect a tank for the price I paid so I knew I needed to take care of the watch. Fast forward to today. I’ve been sick for the last month so I’ve only run 6 times with the watch. I pretty much baby the thing. This AM I look down to see the time and what do I see? I giant white circle in my screen. Not a dead pixel or 2. And to top things off my gps tracing has gotten worse over time. In the beginning it was great now...not so much. I’ll include a picture of the screen for reference. Has anybody else had an issue similar to this? Pretty disappointed so far, def was expecting more coming over from Suunto. Anyways here’s the pic...

Same with me after 10 months.

Started with a small circle (see picture) which grows week after week.

Situation when discovered. You clearly see the pixels.

They are very good about addressing this issue if you call them. It's a known issue with the 245 series of watches. I called them and sent them my watch. A week later I had a new working watch. The only cost to me was the shipping. Seemed fair to me.

I've had the same problem with my forerunner 245. Went in personally to Garmin service center in the UAE after emailing them. Though its under warranty, they said they would replace it only if I bought it directly from them.

I had to send a claim request on noon.com through which I have purchased. Watch has been picked up and its been 10 days, they say its still being diagnosed.

I don't understand why Garmin sells the watch through other stores if their service center cannot support.

Hi, Same issue within 6 months, this same issue appear even when they change a new watch to me.  I have changed 2 times.

  • Same with me. Now, I am expecting 3rd replacement.
    1. Dead pixels
    2. GPS is not working.

    3. Dead pixels again after 6 months.

After 11 months, happened to me as well
Totally normal use (running 3-4 times a week) never dropped the watch and when i leave it on for a while on the a hard surface I make sure it's sitting on the rubber bands as to avoid the micro-shocks from the vibration mechanism.
The most risky activity I do with the watch was a few kite-surf sessions but I never pressed the buttons when the watch was still wet (it also says so explicitly in the manual to not press any of the button when the watch is underwater or even wet)
