Pool swimming heart rate coming to 245 as well?

I just noticed the 945 beta software includes the following:

Added ability to enable wrist-based heart rate for swimming (pool and open water). To enable this feature: 1. Open Menu 2. Scroll to 'Wrist Heart Rate' and enter menu 3. Scroll to 'While Swimming' and toggle to 'On'

I bought my 245 music specifically for pool swimming and started running because of owning it. Since the 245/M doesn't record my heart rate whilst swimming it says I'm detraining even though I train 2-3 times a week. When I finish my swimming activity, the heart rate sensor working fine while I'm swimming casually. Since the 245 and 945 both use the same heart rate sensor I would love it if this feature might be planned to come to the 245/M in a future update as well, could someone at Garmin elaborate on this?

The "wrist-based heart rate for swimming" is in the feature list of 3.03 Beta. However, I did not test it yet.

The update didn't "fix" anything because it was never a feature that broke. It's a new feature that was just added that didn't come with the watch at release. I suggested to use the…

Garmin is tight lipped about stuff like this, and you probably won't know until is shows up (or not) in firmware.

I own 245 as well, and hope they'll put it. For 300usd watch, i expect to have this ability. Considering other watches in market, i hope this will be added soon.

You purchased this watch without oHRM for swimming and now you "expect" it? You can use Garmin's product suggestions website and request it, but expecting Garmin to add a feature because you feel a $300 watch should have it, or because other watches support this is a poor reason.

The Sept 4th Update (3.10) for the 245 fixes the problem. I just tested it yesterday and it works as expected now.

TMK17, Your comment is unhelpful, to say the least. The 245 DOES have an oHRM, but Garmin disabled it in "Pool Swim" mode for some reason. The 3.10 update that just came out fixes that.

I suggested to use the product suggestion website and request it. You don't find that helpful? Or was it my comment about people "expecting" something for free after purchase? Anyway, you don't have to worry about that now since Garmin tossed you a freebie.

So, is fr245 capable of OHR measuring during swim as well? It is not written anywhere in garmin web pages or user's manual yet...
