2.90 / 2.94 beta GPS accuracy?

Garmin Express is still informing me that my watch is up to date with 2.70, even though 2.90 has been out for a while. I can't find anywhere to manually download 2.90 on Garmin's website, however there is a download link for 2.94 beta.

Do either of these updates improve the accuracy of the GPS? It's currently very inconsistent for me.

do you know if you bought a ROW or APAC device ?

I would assume ROW, I purchased it in London, United Kingdom, from a well known retailer.

I guess yours is a FR245

do not know about the GPS question...GALILEO status ... galileo-users-nagu-2019027

here you can get the 2.90 firmware for the FR245 ... Forerunner245_290.gcd

rename the file to GUPDATE.GCD and place it in the GARMIN root folder

Thank you! I've been using GPS + Glonass since that has been giving better results over the past week and a half.

I ended up downloading the beta. I've since done two walks, and it's still inconsistent - better in some spots, worse where it was pretty good before. I'm about to do a 5k run to see how it copes with that.

gps soaking

did you let the watch gather the gps almanac

leave it outside for a minimum of 20 minutes (you can start an activity with gps)

or place it on a windowsill

success with the beta and the run

I've just been syncing it with Garmin connect and Express. Just double check:

Select run.

Wait for GPS to lock on.

Hit start.

Leave watch where it is for at least 20mins.

Correct?

Tried GPS soaking and it's much the same story as before. Some areas are a bit more accurate, whilst others are way off (it's cutting corners quite aggressively now), and there is quite a bit of variance between laps.

Thanks for the help so far, I'll continue working with support to see if they can find a solution.

Hi,

Yesterday updated with 2.94 Beta, GPS is still 2.30 and this is what happened this morning on GPS+GALILEO. I have used the same GPS settings previously and never experienced glitch like this, I did PR 1K @ 2:12 min/km :D
