I think the changes below would be a nice improvement when doing workouts that include run/recover intervals. Consider a workout like 15min warmup, 20 x (30sec run + 30sec recovery), 10 min cool down for example.
- Use the lap count for the current set (not starting from the beginning of the workout). Currently, the audio prompt gives a lap count starting from the beginning of the workout, including warmup and recovery phases, so at the end of interval 4, instead of starting the intervals summary with something like "interval 4 of 20" it says "lap 8".
- Do not announce the "results" of the recovery interval -- or at least give the option to disable it. It gets really chatty in a 30 on 30 off workout.
Putting this another way: Tell me what I'm about to do "Interval X of Y, duration/distance, target pace/HR/etc". Tell me what I just did. Don't tell me what happened during recovery.
I'm sure other people have more improvement suggestions. Please add your ideas!
BTW: iSmoothRun does audio prompts really well. Garmin's product team could benefit from spending some time doing preprogrammed workouts using iSmoothRun.
