Effect of dark vs light theme on battery?

Do light themes eat more battery? I am using the Crystal watch face with a green/dark theme, and i prefer the look of the dark theme, but a light theme IS more readable in low light situations. Do white pixels eat more energy on these screens than dark pixels?

Also, i am a bit intrigued by the type of screen used. It looks like an LCD screen with some properties of e-ink screens. Does anyone have a bit more information of these type of screens?

  • No.. No difference, as power is only used when something changes, and after that it's all reflected light.

These are "reflective LCD".  The work great in bright light (outdoors), are very battery friendly and therefore can be "always on" too.
