245 heart rate with tattoos

I have the feinx 5x plus, and, with all fenix series I have owned, it works flawlessly with my tattoos. I just got a 245 and it doesn’t pick up my heart rate at all. It’s got to be a different or cheaper sensor, looks cheaper certainly, and was even less responsive on areas without a tattoo... this is bad news. If you’re changing sensors, and the new ones use what the 245 has, Garmin will be losing lots of customers likely. What a shame.

It’s the same elevate sensor, it just looks different because it’s has the Pulse Ox sensor as well

Well. They both have the pulse ox sensor. If you look at the backs of the watches at the actual optical lenses, they are quite different. Not sure if the internals are different, but they do appear to be different generations... hence why one works for me and the other does not.  The fenix has a central sensor and three others surrounding it, the 245 has four in a single column.

  • i don't think that this is an issue since it's clearly stated that optical heartrate sensors might not work if one got tattoos....
