Treadmill Calibration Error - How to restore default?

I went for my first treadmill workout this morning and as per the manual,

https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/forerunner245/EN-US/GUID-86541696-B60E-44BC-9A46-4349C86A1CD8.html

it prompted me to calibrate the treadmill. I had run an interval session, and I made an error as I typed in the interval distance from the watch as opposed to the treadmill distance, which means my calibration is now way off.

How can I re-calibrate the treadmill without a factory reset? The manual says there is an option to manually calibrate after every run, but

a) that didn't come up

b) I'd prefer the default to be correct

I've selected "restore defaults" on the treadmill activity, so I am hoping that just re-setting that will trigger a re-calibration, but if it doesn't, am I literally going to be forced to factory reset the entire watch or are there other ways?

Thanks!

  • calibration does not set any parameters in your watch for next workouts

Don't know where you got this from, but according to Garmins description of the calibration feature, it's plain wrong.

"After selecting ‘Save and Calibrate’ the watch allows you to input the distance reported by the treadmill. This will calibrate the watch to improve the distance accuracy for future runs at a similar pace."

  • Garmin Fenix5 x plus calibration is way out on treadmill. This is from one of the last updates. This is messing my stats!! Garmin please fix asap

  • Yes, apparently I can walk much faster than running. Every time I recal it get worse.  Super frustrated!

  • This has been haunting me (Forerunner 935) for months.  They sent me another watch still broken.....I've been on with support like 6 times.  Has anyone had luck resolving this permanently?

  • This is really frustrating.  I'm on a Forerunner 935 and its been a great watch for years.  About the last 6 months its been impossible to calibrate.   Way off.  Garmin sent me a new watch and it had the exact behavior.  Like a reset works once or twice then after a good sync with connect its way off again.  Almost double now.  Has anyone resolved this permanently?

  • My treadmill calibration is terrible and never improves. FR245.  I don't remember it ever functioning correctly in the time I have had the watch.

For a big company like garmin they appear very slow in sorting out this treadmill issue.

I contacted them over a month ago & there is still no update on when this is likely to be rectified. I have the fenix 5.

When the watch is telling you your running at 13 min miles when your actually running at 7 min miles it's very frustrating!

For what ever reason the watch refuses to recalibrate even though I choose this option after each run.

The obvious answer to me is to supply a old firmware update that didn't have this issue until rectified.

  • I have the same on my Garmin 5x , the problem cames after last updates.

Gamin sent me a beta firmware which I had to install via pc. It has solved this issue after doing another run & recalibrating once again.

I imagine it won't be long till update available to everyone once fully tested.

    Or ask garmin for beta.

  • Would you please give me the e-mail adress were i can ask for it
