How to get activity-specific audio prompts?

How can I have activity-specific audio prompts that tell me my lap pace? For instance, when I am running with auto lap turned on, I have "Pace/Speed Alert" in the audio prompts menu turned on and "Alert Frequency" set to every lap. If, however, I am running with another activity that doesn't have auto lap enabled, and I still want to have a regular audible pace/speed alert, I have to change "Alert Frequency" to, say, every 4 minutes.

I want to have these switch automatically based on which activity I choose, but I can't figure out how to get that to happen.

I thought that perhaps turning "Activity Alerts" in the audio prompts menu on, and then enabling alerts based on time or distance, would give me audible alerts, but it only vibrates on my watch. Am I missing something?

I am running with a 245 Music connecting to my phone, not directly to my headphones, if that makes a difference.

Thanks!

  • I've got a 945 with audio prompts via headphones connected to my phone. In Garmin Connect Mobile, go to the device settings, "Activity Options", "Audio Prompts". You can set "Pace or Speed Alerts" and "Heart Rate Alerts" with a frequency (lap or time). I've got "On-Device Alerts" set on.
