Data Field apps

I assume that since the 245M was just released, that's probably why there aren't many Data Field apps in the IQ store. Any thoughts about when we'll start to see more become available?

I've a 230 for several years, and I've just upgraded to the 245M.

My favorite Data Field app -- RUN.monitor Data (https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/849f7ae0-7e2f-4313-8226-6e5e41fa1f98) -- isn't compatible with the 245M. If anyone can point me to a Data Field that allows a similar layout, I would be eternally grateful.
  • Hi Jenny,
write an email to the developer of your data field. It should be not much work to publish it for the Forerunner 245. For the watchface i did, i just had to click a checkbox to support the forerunner 245 and upload it into the garmin iq store.

    Regards,
    Thomas
  • The SDK for developers to start adding support for the 245/245m was just released on May 1. Some may be quick, some may take some work, as the fonts available on the 245 are different than say the 645/935/f5/f5+. And also, this SDK added the fr45/fr945/edge530/edge830, and some may still be adding the MARQ devices.

So it can be much more than just checking a box depending on the app.
  • its a lot of work than just checking a box. For a Datafield and anything that has to do with numbers and layouts, new calculations and new layouts has to be done. This is like what @jim said. The fonts are all different on the different devices. Garmin for one isn't doing developers any favors by having these different kind of font sets across the same watch model iterations. Basically have to re-work a lot of the layouts and aesthetics to ensure they fit.
