HR accuracy issues

Is there anyone else having issues with HR readings?
I noticed that my HR was "stuck" during workouts, and would never get any higher than ~100.

I've tried wearing the watch in maybe 10 different ways, other arm, removed all sweat, tightened the strap, etc.. nothing worked.
All software is up to date.

I had a friend nearby who has a FR 235 and that watch reported HR 142 while mine was displaying 101. I think that's different enough to say that it's not working.
It sometimes work , and sometimes not. Can't make head nor tails of it... ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1480558.jpg
  • Argggh, I'm having the same issue, my gear sport is showing perfect heart rate and only got this for the updated heart rate sensor so many having being going on about, I'm struggling to get the thing over 125bpm, please help Garmin, don't want to have to send this back

  • If I wear it like described 2 fingers off the wrist bone, it will just slide down an be to loose. No matter how tight it make it. I am not the only persion with muscles in the under arm.

  • For running and walking it seems ok. I did one body weight cardio workout and it was ok as well. In Yoga I always have a lot of longer dropouts. It is not usable for Yoga and problably weight lifting.

  • I went for a quick run last night (2Km) and then did a Endurance hiit workout this morning.
Its the same as before unfortunately, the run had no issue, hitting an expected 173bpm
The session this morning which was a 42 minute session that involved 200m runs, Burpees, Box step ups, mixed with Rowing and using an Assault Bike (Which My heart rate would usually hit near max) only maxed out at 155bpm
(My old gear sport would have this almost spot on which I've also tested against a Chest heart rate monitor)

I've updated my own device to the FW3.45 beta just to see if that would make any difference but its still the same.

    Such a disappointment so far

I have spoken to Garmin support who asked me to perform a restart by turning off the Heart rate and restarting the device, done that, retested, still the same, waiting on a reply from them now

It is so frustrating. Please keep us posted on the reply you'll get from Garmin.

  • This has been going on for so long, surely Garmin must be monitoring this column or complaints and make some kind of statement about a) whether they recognise the problem; and b) when they anticipate a fix coming through?

I have got to the stage about wondering whether to leave comments on the sellers's site that I bought it from saying not to buy this produc because of a glitch in the software for HR monitoring for cross-training. Would that stimulate a statement or a change?

  • Question. Which activity type did you select, was it 'other'. If yes, do you have the same problem with the 'cardio' one. I've been trying to figure this out myself, garmin support wanted me to replace the watch for the third (!!) time.

  • I've tried both other and cardio, I'm still getting the same result

  • I didn't even select an activity type. I just chose Broadcast HR while cycling, and it still can't even get it right.

  • When doing Circuit training I've been using the Cardio activity type (instead of Circuit) and for some reason the HR monitoring seems to work better.
